Principal's Message
Welcome Back Skycrest Families,Welcome students and families to the 2024 - 2025 School Year at Skycrest Elementary. I hope that your summer break was restful, filled with fun and that you kept cool during those very hot days!
By now you should have received a class information letter letting you and your student aware of their teacher and a few Skycrest updates. If you did not receive a Class Information letter please contact our school office at 916-971-5098, your address may be inaccurate in Q. If you have not already done so, please take a few minutes to update emergency contact information, complete the School Funding Form, and receive the 2024-25 Family Handbook by visiting www.sanjuan.edu/parentportal .
Besides class information a flyer was also included letting parents aware that our Meet and Greet has changed a bit. We are planning our Back to School Night and Meet the Teacher on Wednesday, August 14 from 5:30 - 6:30 PM. This will give you and your student the opportunity to meet the teacher and learn about expectations for the school year, and hopefully ease any nerves some of our students might have. We hope that you will be able to attend. I will be sending out a reminder to all families.
The Staff and I are excited to welcome all our families back, with teachers working diligently to prepare rooms for the many new faces they will get the opportunity to teach this year. Our First Day of school is Thursday, August 15, with school starting at 8:55, with dismissal at 2:05 on the first day, and every Thursday. Our regular schedule start and dismissal times are:
M-W, F – 8:55 – 3:20 PM Th – 8:55 – 2:05PM
Please have a little patience when coming through the parking lot, and on Mariposa Ave, especially at the start of the school year. Skycrest Staff will be out directing the traffic during drop off and pick up times. The parking lot will be very busy and congested so please follow their direction as we work together for the safety of everyone! The main thing is to remember to NOT stop and get out in the driving pick up and drop off lane. Keep your speed down, 5 mph, avoid blocking crosswalks on Mariposa and be alert for students walking across the street.
The staff and I look forward to seeing our students, and partnering, with all our families. We will continue using the 2-way communication system - Talking Points. Teachers and I will be sending families important information through this system that will also allow parents and guardians to respond back. Please be on the look out for a message from your child's teacher.
We look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night on Wednesday, 8/14, and on the First Day of School, Thursday, 8/15! I look forward to meeting the many new parents starting this year at Skycrest and reconnecting with returning families.
