Principal's Message

Welcome Back to the 2025-2026 School Year!

Dear Skycrest Families,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year at Skycrest Elementary! I hope your summer was enjoyable and refreshing during the warm days.

You should have received a class information letter by now, outlining your child’s teacher and providing some updates. If you have not received this letter, please contact our school office at 916-971-5098, as there may be an issue with your address in our system. Additionally, please take a moment to update your emergency contact information, complete the School Funding Form, and access the 2025-2026 Family Handbook by visiting www.sanjuan.edu/parentportal.

We are excited to invite you to our Back to School Night and Meet the Teacher event on Wednesday, August 13, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your student to meet the teacher and discuss expectations for the year, helping to alleviate any first-day nerves. Your attendance would be greatly appreciated. We will have some books and a limited supply of backpacks available for families to take home. Please join PTO.

The staff and I are eager to welcome you back, with our teachers preparing their classrooms for the new students they will be teaching this year. Our first day of school is Thursday, August 14, starting at 8:55 AM, with dismissal at 2:05 PM. For your reference, our regular schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:55 AM – 3:20 PM
  • Thursday: 8:55 AM – 2:05 PM
  • TK/Kinder: 8:55 AM-12:55 PM Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

We kindly ask for your patience as you navigate the parking lot and Mariposa Ave, especially at the beginning of the school year. Skycrest staff will be present to direct traffic during drop-off and pick-up times. The parking lot may be congested, so please follow their guidance to ensure everyone's safety. Remember, please do not stop and exit the vehicle in the driving lane. Maintain a speed of 5 mph, avoid blocking crosswalks on Mariposa, and be vigilant for students crossing the street.

We look forward to partnering with all our families this year. We will continue utilizing the 2-way communication system, Talking Points, to share important information and allow families to respond. Please keep an eye out for messages from your child's teacher.

We are excited to see you at Back to School Night on Wednesday, August 13, and on the first day of school, Thursday, August 14! I am looking forward to meeting many new parents joining us this year and reconnecting with our returning families.

Warm regards,

Mrs. Landuyt, Principal
